What 4G or 5G Changes

The address comes from T-Mobile either way. The radio link is what differs.

A website sees the public IP, and on these servers that address belongs to T-Mobile whether the modem connects over 4G or 5G. An IP address doesn't reliably tell a site which radio the modem used, so the network type isn't what makes a carrier address look like phone traffic.

What 5G changes is the link between the modem and the cell tower: it can carry more traffic and usually responds faster. That helps most with heavy, many-page jobs. For account work, ad checks and occasional price lookups, a 4G server does the same job.

To see the difference for your own target, rent the 4G and the 5G server in Texas for four hours each and run the same job on both.

T-Mobile's Network

What the carrier says about it.

T-Mobile is one of the three national US carriers. It says it launched the first nationwide standalone 5G network, meaning 5G that doesn't lean on a 4G core, in August 2020. That describes T-Mobile's whole network. Speed on any one server depends on the signal where its modem sits and on the other buyers sharing it, so we don't quote a figure.
