Rotating Mobile Proxies: How the IP Changes

A rotating proxy gives you new IP addresses over time without reconfiguring your tool: same host, same port, same login, different address. ProxyStream does it two ways. Standard servers change the IP on a fixed timer. Advanced servers change it when you open your rotation link.

Each row is four hours of a server's time; a tick is a scheduled IP change. The schedule belongs to the modem, which other buyers share, so it doesn't restart when you buy: your first change can come at any point in the interval. On the request row, the shaded slivers are the wait between presses (3 minutes by default).

Rotation Is Not a Pool

The word means two different things in the proxy market.

With many residential services, “rotating” means each request, or each few minutes, leaves from a different device in a large pool of homes. Here it means one modem on one carrier getting a new public address from that carrier. You stay on the same server, in the same place, on the same network; only the IP changes.

Between changes the address holds steady. The carrier picks the next one, and it can be an address it handed out before, so a rotation gives you a different IP, not a guaranteed never-seen one.

Timed Rotation on Standard Servers

Set per server, and listed before you buy.

The interval is fixed

Each server keeps its own schedule, from every 10 minutes on the quickest to every 60 on the slowest. It belongs to the modem, which other buyers share, so it doesn't restart when you buy: your first change can come at any point in the interval.

Open connections can drop

When the address changes, connections that were open on the old one can be cut. Scrapers and scripts should retry a failed request instead of stopping.

Everyone on the modem moves together

Several buyers share each modem, so they share its address and its schedule.

Which One to Pick

Start from the task, not the feature.

Crawling pages that limit requests per IP

Standard, short interval

More addresses per hour, with nothing for you to trigger.

Staying logged in to one account

Standard, long interval, or Advanced

Fewer forced changes. On Advanced the timer is gone, but another buyer's rotation can still change the IP.

A new IP right after a ban or CAPTCHA

Advanced

Open the rotation link from your script when the target pushes back, then retry.

Switching between accounts

Advanced

Change the IP between one account's session and the next, on your schedule.

Every Server, by How Its IP Changes
